External Tank Barge

This large barge delivers the shuttle external tank to the Vehicle Assembly building. The external tank is actually built in New Orleans and sent by barge to here. One of the NASA workers we watched built a computer simulation of the barge. The external tank is the large brown tank that delivers fuel to the shuttle. You may be wondering why they don't paint the external tank. It turns out the paint for something that size weighs thousands of pounds. Think of when you pick up a 5 gallon bucket of paint, and then multiply that.
