Visiting the NASA buildings

On Day 2 we met with a 3-d modeler to discuss his work in the morning. We ate lunch at the Operations and Control building, in the cafeteria.

On our way into the building, our tour guide showed us the door that astronauts use when they load into the special van and go to a launch. We were taking pictures of the door, when Mr. Lewis spotted some real astronauts coming. They jokingly said they were bus drivers but were very friendly and took pictures with us.

Introduction Day

We spent most of the first day in this room watching presentations, talking to some NASA engineers, and listening as they explain what they do in their jobs. We also saw information on the history of NASA.

Here is a picture of the group of teachers. Mr. Lewis is attending from Hamady, and he is next to the letter N.

On the back row starting at the right is me, Matt from CA, Aaron from AZ, Mike from AZ, Tim Lewis from Hamady, Caleb from MI.
On the front row from right, Ramona from CA, Kathy from CA, Anna from CA, Les Gold NASA Education specialist and former science teacher from New York (now he is a NASA historian and a great tour guide), Olivia Rice RTI consultant and director of the entire project (she came out for the first few days to make sure everything was running smoothly), Mary Bridget from AZ, Katie from AZ, Rich from MI.

Went to church today

I went to 2 wards today. The first ward wasn't very fun so I had to try another one.

The first night I stayed at the Marriot, using points to stay for free. Today I moved to a new hotel. After checking in I grabbed a quick dinner and met with the people who are running the workshop. The meeting went well.

Rocket Garden

These rockets are real and go all the way back to the beginning of the space program. The orange walkway was used by Neil Armstrong in his moon mission.

Lunar Lander

This is a picture of a lunar lander for a Saturn Rocket.

Beautiful weather in Florida

I made it safely to Florida and the flight was fine. Everything is much greener than Michigan right now and the weather is very nice. I'm setting everything up today and getting ready.

Saturday is the big day

On Saturday I'll be flying to Orlando. Mr. Lewis is flying in Sunday. We're starting with a meet and greet at the hotel that evening at 6 PM. Some of the teachers said they couldn't make it to the first meeting because they're going to Universal Studios instead. I thought they were crazy.
